A beautiful word for women today. The Hebrew text has a depth and beauty that is worth a look. Check out Psalm 124:8 —
Hebrew:
עֶ֭זְרֵנוּ בְּשֵׁ֣ם יְהוָ֑ה עֹ֝שֵׂ֗ה שָׁמַ֥יִם וָאָֽרֶץ
English translation:
Our help is from the LORD, who made heaven and earth.
In the Blue Letter Bible app, I simply touch this word, ezer (עֵזֶר) and it’s takes me to other places this type of help is documented in scripture. Here are a few:
We put our hope in the LORD. He is our help and our shield. Psalms 33:20
I look up to the mountains– does my help come from there? My help comes from the LORD, who made heaven and earth! Psalms 121:1-2
And in Genesis 2:18 God says, “I will make a helper who is just right for him.”
And that’s my message today to you, dear daughter of God. You are so much more than secondary. You are not here on earth as a secondary “helpmeet.” Depending on your English translation, you may have the impression that woman was created as an afterthought.
I have so much more to say on this topic, but for today, I have a simple reminder. Yes, you may meet many needs in your relationships with men. Don’t lose track of the fact that you were made by the Helper Himself. He knew the help this world would need over and through the generations.
You are a strong help, created by God for this time- right here, right now.
