“The LORD will fight for you. You just keep still.”” Exodus 14:14 CEB
I work in deconstruction ministry and use the word “Journey” to describe our walk with the Lord. There is a peace that comes from our connection to the Holy Spirit. The next verse is also important:
“Then the LORD said to Moses, “Why do you cry out to me? Tell the Israelites to get moving.” (v. 15)
Deconstruction is not a mysterious new concept— it is seen throughout Scripture. We are constantly moving forward in our faith journey. God’s given us each strengths and gifts, and a purpose and longing in our hearts.
Exodus is full of moments when God calls His people forward and out of toxic situations. Yet it’s hard for them to leave behind traditions, communities, comforts, and routines they’ve always known. They even tell Moses it would be easier to stay under Pharaohs slavery than to journey out toward freedom. But God tells them to get moving. It’s a reminder that God not only prepares our way, but asks us to make tough choices as we journey.
